Hot stones massage is performed using smooth, heated basalt stones, either as an extension of therapists hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.
The stones are of various shapes and sizes and the pressure applied can be varied depending on the preference of the client. The heat of the stones sinks deeper into the tissues than the pressure on the skin helping tight muscles soften more quickly than in traditional therapeutic massage.
This is a totally rejuvenating experience for the body and mind. The hot stones balance your energies and leave you feeling grounded and deeply relaxed.
*This is a very popular treatment amongst my clients and it is my personal favourite therapy to give and receive.*
Who Shouldn’t Get Hot Stones Massage?
Hot Stones massage is not appropriate if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or are on medication that thins your blood. You shouldn’t get a hot stones massage if you are pregnant or have a sunburn. You also may want to reconsider if you are menopausal, as it may trigger a hot flush.
